[1] Whether there are any plans to deal with the ongoing gang violence at the Bulumnko High School, Khayelitsha; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
[2] whether any steps have been taken by her Department in relation to the stabbing incident involving learners which took place on 10 May 2016; if not; why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

8. (1) Yes. The principal sent a request for repairs to the fencing and extension of security guards to safe schools which has been approved. Learners exhibiting problematic behaviour have been identified.
The process to subject learners with behavioural problems to ongoing drug tests has also begun.
(2) Disciplinary processes were instituted against the perpetrator. The disciplinary committee’s recommendation has been referred to the office of the SG.
