(a) How many ambient air-quality monitoring stations are there across the province, (b) where are the stations situated and (c) what is the condition of the stations?

Answer Body: 

(a) There are in total eleven (11) ambient air quality monitoring stations under the control of the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) across the Western Cape Province. In addition, there are 13 monitoring stations under the jurisdiction and control of the City of Cape Town (CoCT).

(b) The Western Cape Government stations are located in the following locations:

(c) Ten (10) of the Western Cape Government stations are in a fully operational condition for monitoring ambient air quality. One (1) station located in Mosselbay is in the process of being repaired after being vandalised in October 2015. Twelve (12) of the City of Cape Town stations are in in a fully operational condition for monitoring ambient air quality. One (1) station located in Athlone is not operational as result of building renovations on site.
