What progress has been made on the (a) Vlakkeland Housing Project in the Drakenstein Municipality and (b) Bella Vista Housing Project in Witzenberg Municipality?
[a] Vlakkeland Housing Project in the Drakenstein Municipality.
The proposed Vlakkeland IRDP project is planned for 2653 housing opportunities.
The first Phase of the project comprises of 972 opportunities. This phase is further divided into 4 respective stages, viz. Phases 1.1 to 1.4
Progress:
1st phase approval was granted on 17 November 2017 for the implementation of 552 services sites and 537 top structures. Two contractors have been appointed for two of the four respective stages [Phase 1.2 and 1.3] of phase 1, i.e.
- 316 serviced sites and 309 top structures
- 236 serviced sites and 228 top structures
The contract commenced on13 November 2017.
The installation of 552 serviced sites and the construction of the 537 top structures are currently in progress.
The planned completion date: 31 March 2019.
Bulk Services:
Bulk services requirements are running concurrent with the internal services. The anticipated completion date is 16 August 2018.
[b] Bella Vista Housing Project in Witzenberg Municipality
The project was approved on 11 November 2016 for 309 top structures which includes units for 15 disabled persons and 15 military veterans.
Progress to date:
307 units are at the final stages of completion which is set for March 2018. The two outstanding units will be completed during the 2018/19 financial year.
