With respect to the Department’s project that will supply 25 healthcare facilities with inverters:

(1) (a)(i) How far along is the project and (ii) by when is it expected to be completed, (b) which healthcare facilities are participating in the project and (c) what is the allocated cost of the project;

(2)  whether there are any further plans to expand this project so that more facilities can receive inverters; if so, what are the relevant details?

Answer Body: 

1. [a][i] Meetings were held with the Contractor and site visits were conducted.  The scope of work was explained in terms of the Departmental Inverter Strategy.

        [ii] The project will be completed within five to six months. 

[b] The participating health care facilities will soon be finalized, of which clinics in all geographical regions will participate.

[c] The initial cost estimate of the project is R7,2 million.

2. Facilities smaller than 200m2 will be assisted with specifications to purchase inverter trolleys. Approximately 50 facilities will benefit from these interventions.  Facilities larger than 200m2 that do not form part of the initial roll out will be addressed during future roll outs.
