10(1)(a) (i) to (v):
Sponsorship: Disaster Management Practitioner:
- Disaster Management Practitioner (Richard Haridien) received sponsorship from Santam Insurance Company in August 2016.
- This was to attend a roundtable conference in Russia pertaining to disaster prevention and mitigations in the BRICS coastal states.
- The monetary value amounted to R15 000, which was used to cover the expenses of the trip. Santam bought the air tickets and paid the hotel accommodation directly to the service providers.
- The attendance of this conference brought more insights and understanding of disaster mitigation within BRICS coastal states, and also opened the door to partnerships within the BRICS Working Group on disaster management.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Programme
At the launch of the Municipal Citizen Engagement APP, which was hosted on the 15 March 2017, the Business Connexion Pty(Ltd) distributed 50 Flashlight and Cooler Bags of which 20 was directly gifted to the Department at the value of R210.
10(1)(b) (i) to (v):
A gift received from Russian University (Saint Petersburg), during roundtable coastal and oceans' visit on behalf of South Africa. The Coastal PDMCs Forum decided to present this gift to the NDMC to keep in its centre.
10.2 No counter performance was requested from officials, except to share lessons learned at the Roundtable conference in Russia.
