What progress has been made with the investigation into the alleged unlawful expenditure incurred by the Western Cape Liquor Board while a certain person, whose name has been furnished to his Department for the purpose of this reply, was the Chief Executive Officer, (b) who is investigating the matter and (c) when will the report be made public?
The initial investigation into the matter was concluded by the independent forensic investigation service provider and the first draft report was issued in December 2016. The Department together with the Western Cape Liquor Authority and the Provincial Forensic Services therefore engaged with the service provider to clarify the recommendations of the 1st draft report and as a result a 2nd report was issued in April 2017. The second report was handed to Legal Services to advise the Western Cape Liquor Authority on how it should proceed with the matter.
(b) The investigation was conducted by an independent firm, Sizwe Ntsaluba Gobodo.
(c) The Western Cape Liquor Authority is currently in consultation with Legal Services on the matter and a decision will be made regarding the release of the report based on the legal advice received.
