- whether the Western Cape Provincial Government is supporting child-headed households; if not, why not; if so; what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
From 2014/15 to 2016/17, there were 65 reported Child Headed Households in the Province
- 2014/15: 39
- 2015/16: 18
- 2016/17: 8
The department funds 37 NPO’s to provide the following services
- Psycho-social support services, mainly focusing on loss and grief
- Nutritional Support
- Individual and family counselling
Where the NPO does not have the necessary capacity, referral of child to specialised services
