  1. (a) Who owns farm 694 in New Woodlands, Mitchells Plain, and (b) what are the development or other plans for the farm;

 

  1. whether the community has been consulted about these plans for farm 694; if not; why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body: 

)(a) My department is the custodianship of farm 694 in Mitchells Plain

      (b) The R300 freeway runs across the property.  A power servitude that  

            runs parallel to and to the south of the freeway is about to be  

            registered over the property in favour of Eskom.  The Remainder is  

            being planned for human settlement development.  

  1.   The sub council chairs as well as the ward councillors were made aware

        of the project in meetings held on 17 and 20 July 2017;

 

            The relevant official community structures for Kosovo and Farm 694 were

            identified with the assistance of the ward councillors and sub council

            chairs.

 

           Two open community meetings were held (12 and 26 July 2017) with the

          community structures (including their executive) as well as the sub  

          council chair and the ward councillor.

 

          The Project Steering Committee (PSC) members were elected by the

          community structures to serve on a joint PSC for Kosovo and Farm 694;

 

The first PSC meeting will be held in due course to explain the way forward and the community input which will be sought.

 

Thereafter, regular PSC meetings will be held with the elected PSC members to seek their input and for them to communicate the views of their constituents to the project team.

 

 Representation from Provincial Government will be at the meetings.

 

The sub council chairs and ward councillors will also be invited to attend all PSC meetings.
