Human Settlements
(1) Has progress been made since the launch of the District 6 project; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
(2) have any claimants benefitted from the project; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
(3) (a) what is the allocated budget from the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform and (b) can the Minister provide a breakdown of how the budget has been spent?
[1-3] The District 6 project is not driven by my department but is a joint initiative between the Department of Rural Development & Land Reform [DRDLR] and the City of Cape Town. The project funding at this stage is limited to the funding from DRDLR and the City’s Urban Settlements Development Grant for the bulk infrastructure.
It is therefore suggested that the question be directed to DRDLR.
