Whether her Department has information about those learners who are on the waiting list to be enrolled for matric in 2017; if so, (i) how many learners are on the waiting list; (ii) how long will it take to enrol these learners; and (iii) how will these learners be assisted to catch up with the teaching they have missed?
Yes
[i] 1 (late registration because of relocation from outside the province)
[ii] Finding a local school for this learner is challenging because the learner has to be placed at a school that offers her subject combination. Grade 12 learners are not allowed to change their subjects according to new policy [Regulations Pertaining to the National Curriculum Statement Grades R–12 as amended in the Government Gazette, No. 39435 of 20 November 2015].
[iii] As soon as the learner is placed, arrangements will be made with the school to assist the learner with a catch up programme. This will include study notes, extra lessons and an opportunity to submit outstanding tasks.
