- How is his Department handling the issue of evictions from rental
houses in Macassar near Somerset West and (b) what are the(i) reasons
for and (ii) details of each eviction?
Answer Body:
- The City of Cape Town is the custodian of the properties in question.
- (i) It was established that the City has instituted legal proceeding
against occupants who were unable to produce adequate proof
that they had been in occupation prior to the 1 March 2006.
(ii) No eviction has taken place yet.
