a) How many families have been evicted from (i) Woodstock and (ii)
Salt River since 2009 and (b) for each, what were the reasons for the
eviction;
- whether there are any planned future evictions; if so, what are the
relevant details?
Answer Body:
- None by my department. The evictions in the areas listed were instituted by private land owners.
I am not always aware of the private evictions especially where my department is not cited as a respondent.
The City of Cape Town is usually served with the copy of all eviction orders even if they are not cited as a respondent but does not maintain a record of evictions instituted by private land owners.
At the stage, neither my department nor the City is aware of planned evictions.
