Whether he has written to the national Minister of Police requesting that he reinstate the specialised gang units in the Western Cape; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?

5. Yes.
The Minister of Community Safety has written to the National Minister of Police on 3 August 2017. During our Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) consultation sessions the matter was also raised. PNP reports were signed off by the Minister of Community Safety and sent to the National Minister of Police.
