(1) What is the update on his Department’s contractor’s framework aimed at empowering women and the youth;
(2) whether his Department’s anticipated targets in relation to the framework have been reached; if not, what are the challenges standing in the way of reaching its targets;
(3)(a) how many women-owned businesses have benefited from the framework since January 2022, and (b) what are the details of the (i) contracts and (ii) tenders that those businesses received?
[1] My Department concluded the Contractors framework in August 2022. From the 606 bids received, 181 Women construction owned companies and 48 Youth construction owned companies may benefit from future construction related projects.
[2] Although the Contractors Framework was concluded in August 2022, it still needs to be implemented and is largely dependent on financial feasibility and the most viable procurement sourcing strategies (i.e. work packaging and individual subsidy appointments).
[3][a][b] None to date. The framework was finalised in August 2022 and will be the start of new procurement processes that will benefit the successful contractors.
