Answer Body:

With regard to the operations of MyCiTi and Go George from 2014 to 2022 to date, I am informed that the details are as follows:

MyCiTi:

GO GEORGE

The George Integrated Public Transport Network (GO GEORGE) is a unique partnership between the Western Cape Government and the Municipality of George, with grant funding received from National Treasury and the Department of Transport through the Public Transport Network Grant (PTNG). In addition to the grants received a contribution is received from the Municipality.

The table below provides a summary of the expenditure incurred per funding source on the GO GEORGE project:  [table attached]

The total expenditure incurred to date has been just above R3.1 billion. The Municipal Council recently committed to contributing at least 2% of its annual rates income to the GIPTN operating budget and to contribute a proportional amount to municipal road rehabilitation costs.  This commitment is reflected in the 2022/23 MTEF.
