A sad day at the WCPP: Sudden passing of Chief Whip, Hon Lorraine Botha

It is with profound sadness that the Western Cape Provincial Parliament hereby informs you about the untimely passing of our dear Chief Whip, Hon. Lorraine Botha, earlier today.

On behalf of the Honourable Members and staff of the institution we wish to offer our sincere condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and her party, the Democratic Alliance

The late Hon Botha served the Western Cape Provincial Parliament and the people of this great province with an absolute sense of dignity and distinction. She has been a Member of this parliament since 2014 an has served in different capacities during her time, including chairperson of various committees and more recently as the Chief Whip of the Majority Party; where she played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the WCPP in its quest to conduct its constitutional responsibilities efficiently and effectively.

As an expression of respect to honour the late Hon. Botha, our chief Whip and her family, having consulted with all political party leaders represented in this great institution, all parliamentary activities are suspended for the rest of the week.

May the family and friends find solace in the love of our Heavenly Father during this time of bereavement.

May the dear soul of the late Hon. Botha, our Chief Whip, rest in peace, and rise in glory.
