With regard to the Schoongezicht Housing Project, which has been identified as one of the emergency housing projects that will yield 347 housing opportunities, that was confirmed by the Drakenstein Municipality during a May 2022 oversight visit to be implemented in a phased approach:
(a) What are the specifics of the phased approach and (b) when is the implementation date?
Answer Body:
[a][b] The project entails the implementation of 347 serviced sites for emergency housing. Qualifying beneficiaries are relocated from surrounding areas. The project is implemented by Drakenstein Municipality over multiple financial years:
- The work commenced in the 2018/2019 financial year with the installation of 79 serviced sites with precast toilets on the individual erven;
- During 2020/2021, a further 91 sites were serviced; and
- In the current financial year, the balance of 178 sites will be serviced.
