In relation to her Department’s strategy to ensure that an applicable backup rollout plan takes place at priority primary healthcare facilities and other facilities:
Whether progress is being made with the feasibility plan; if not, at which point will a feasibility study begin with respect to this plan; if so, (a) which priority primary healthcare facilities have been identified, (b) what is the projected cost of this plan and (c) what is the projected timeline for its completion?
Approval has been granted for the implementation of the Rural Primary Health Care [PHC] Energy Savings Company [ESCO] Inverter Turnkey Project for Backup Electricity.
[a] The project will be implemented at 51 Rural PHC facilities (attached excel spreadsheet) identified by Rural Health Services.
[b] Budget has been ringfenced in this financial year for the implementation of the project.
[c] The Task Orders to for implementation of the project are currently in process of being finalized with the ESCO and Sourcing. It is envisaged that the project will be implemented over the next 6 months. The department intends rolling out the project at additional Rural PHC Facilities in the new financial year pending budget availability.
