  1. What has been the average occupation rate of the chalets or rooms for the year ended 31 March 2022, (b) what is deemed to be the break-even occupation rate for each reserve, (c) how are the indirect costs allocated to tourism facilities, particularly overnight accommodation, and (d) what other costs are taken into account when calculating the total cost related to tourist accommodation?

Answer Body:

(a) The average occupation rate of chalets or rooms was 45% for the year ended31 March 2022.

  1. Reserves are consolidated into the four landscapes. The breakeven occupancy is the minimum percentage of accommodation required to cover the fixed costs.  Breakeven for Landscape West is low due to the high capacity and low cost at Algeria as it is mainly a camping site with lower fixed costs. The higher breakeven in Landscape South is attributed to the portage costs associated with the Whale Trail at De Hoop.
