-
- The Department has made provision to accommodate fifty (50) students in 2023.
-
- The announcement was published on the Department’s website, social media accounts and on the College of Health Science website as part of its new educational programme.
-
- Yes, the graduates will assist in addressing the current shortage of nurses in the country in that at the end of the four-year training programme, successful candidates will write the Board Exam with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) to be registered as a Professional Nurse and Midwife. This category of a nurse is skilled and competent to work in hospitals and Primary Health care settings. Currently only three higher educational institutions are accredited to offer B-Nursing as a degree in the province with the total enrolment of 260 students per year. Therefore, the additional enrolment of 50 students at the Western Cape College of Nursing will increase the outputs of this cadre nurse which will contribute towards addressing the shortage of Professional Nurses and Midwives in the country.
