My Department is not aware of any cases of extortion being opened at SAPS, as relief was sought directly from the courts through separate urgent interdicts. |
Extortion or attempted extortion is a difficult matter to make a case for and to report as a crime to SAPS. This is as a result of alleged behind-the-scenes extortion. Violence sometimes erupts on and around the construction sites resulting in damage to people and/or property and this is usually what gets reported as crime to SAPS. My Department is not aware of any arrests made. |
