Cultural Affairs and Sport
With regard to the funding of sport federations from 2014 to 2023 to date:
(a) What sporting codes were funded, (b) what is the detailed breakdown of the money spent and (c) what are the details of the funds spent on (i) rugby, (ii) chess, (iii) softball and (iv) football for international participation during this period?

The transfer funding is for the following support to federations.
- Administration: Supports the administrative functions of sport federations which includes purchasing of office equipment, stationary, telephones, data, travel cost to meetings etc.
- Development: Support the developmental programmes and projects of sport federations, this includes clubs’ leagues, travel to provincial tournaments and competitions, purchasing of equipment and attire and other areas relative to the federation’s needs.
- Transformation: Support those projects and initiatives which includes increase participation for women and girls, disability sport, previously disadvantaged communities and other outcomes aligned to the transformation scorecard and charter.
- Capacity building: Support the projects and initiatives aligned to the upskill of athletes, clubs, referee’s, technical officials, management, coaches.
- Major events: Support event applications of federations to promote the western cape as a sport tourism Mecca of South Africa. These events are across the 6 districts of the western cape. The funding provided contributes to the hosting of Districts, Provincial, National, and International events.
