How many municipalities in the province are expected to develop ward committee operational plans;
whether there are municipalities that have yet to finalise ward committee operational plans; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
- All twenty-four local municipalities and the metropolitan municipality are required to annually develop Ward Committee Operational Plans and submit such plans to the Department of Local Government (the Department).
- Only one local municipality has not yet submitted Ward Operational Plans to the Department. This matter has been escalated to their Speaker of the Council as the custodian of Ward Committees and through his intervention a meeting has been scheduled with the purpose of supporting the Municipality with the development and submission of their outstanding Ward Committee Operational Plans.
