In relation to the SAPS call centre in Maitland:

  1. Whether the current call centre is sufficient to cater for all the residents of the province; if not;
  1. whether there are plans to (a) increase its capacity or (b) build an additional centre; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
  2. whether load-shedding has affected the operations of the call centre; if so, what are the relevant details;
  3. whether the call centre is (a) equipped with a generator and (b) exempted from certain stages of load-shedding; if so, what are the relevant details;
  4. how many cases of absenteeism have been recorded in (a) 2018/19, (b) 2019/20, (c) 2020/21, (d) 2021/22 and (e) 2022/23 to date?

15.    [1]  The Maitland 10111 Command Centre is currently serving 72 police stations, which are situated in the peninsula.

         [3]  Yes, when the power goes off all systems/telephones shutdown and have to be rebooted upon switching to the generator.
