In relation to the monies spent on budget items, including fuel, oil and medical gas, to keep healthcare facilities running during power cuts:

  1. How much was spent in every month since the start of the 2022/23 financial year, (b) how many litres of (i) fuel, (ii) oil and (iii) medical gas does her Department have in storage in the province and (c) what is the combined value of these items?

  1. The below is expenditure report for budget item Consumables: Fuel from 1 April 2022 to 16 February 2023:

April – R7 407 413,46

May – R8 783 755,42

June – R5 697 287,25

July – R16 805 228,14

August – R8 508 614,52

  1. (i) Fuel - Storage for diesel has maximum capacity of 250 000 litres. This level however fluctuates hourly but most accurate available calculation with data at hand is that stock levels are at 192 500 litres.

(ii) Medical gas - Bulk oxygen tanks capacity is 90.5 tons and additional 9 tons of cylinder rises oxygen. Current stock levels are approximately at 60%.

(ii) Oil - is not a stock item that is generally kept.

Fuel - Approximate value of R4 250 000, 00

Medical gas - Approximate value of R720 000, 00

Total approximate value - R4 970 000, 00.
