- What is the impact of blackouts on the operation of traffic lights;
- whether there are alternative sources of energy, such as solar panels installed in the province, to ensure traffic lights remain functional during blackouts; if so, what are the relevant details;
- how much has the provincial government and local governments in the province invested in alternative energy to power traffic lights?
Answer Body:
- Unless there are alternative sources of electricity, traffic lights will not be operational when we there are blackouts.
- There are no alternative sources of energy installed to keep traffic lights functional on the provincial road network. The Province has no detail regarding the national or municipal road networks.
- The Province has not invested any funds in alternative energy to serve traffic lights on its network. The Province has no detail regarding the local municipal traffic lights.
