Answer Body:
  1. How many children across the province have been removed from gangs and placed in programmes or facilities to better their lives, (b)(i) where does the children come from and (ii) what is the average age of the children and (c) how much did her Department spend on these programmes in (i) 2020, (ii) 2021 and (iii) 2022?
  1. There is no provision in the Children’s Act or Child Justice Act for the removal of children specifically for gang involvement, so this information is not collected separately from children who are taken into places of safety or alternative care due to other risks.  The majority of children that are placed in a Secure Care Centre have had some involvement with gangs, but no official definition of gang affiliation is used to label or count these children separately from the other residents.
