In relation to the state of police station infrastructure in the Western Cape:

  1. (a) Which police stations currently do not have any (i) access control points on their premises and (ii) holding cells and (b) of these that do not, (i) what alternative is being used and (ii) what are the plans to build holding cell facilities at each of these affected stations;
  1. which police stations currently do not have any detention facilities and (b) what alternative is being used and (c) what are the plans to build detention facilities at each of these affected stations?

6.      (1)   (a) (i)    All police stations have access control points.

                       (ii)    Barrydale, Caledon, Ceres, Conville, Goodwood, Gordons Bay, Great Brak River, Groot Drakentein, Kensington, Klapmuts, Kleinmond, Knysna, Laaiplek, Ladismith, Laingsburg, Lutzville, McGregor, Montagu, Muizenberg, Oudtshoorn, Paarl, Parow, Philippi East, Porterville, Piketberg, Prince Alfred Hamlet, Riebeeck West, Robertson, St Helena Bay, Standard, Still Bay, Struisbaai, Table Bay Harbour, Vanrhynsdorp, Wellington.

 

                 (b)   (i)   The above-mentioned stations indicated that they use the detention cells or a vacant room in the CSC to process detainees.

                  (ii)  A request for construction detention cell which include holding cells were placed on the User Asset Management Plan (UAMP) for all police stations. The UAMP is managed by the Divisional Commissioner: SCM in conjunction with the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

         (2)   (a)   Belhar, Bothasig Cloetesville, Elands Bay, Kirstenhof, Kwanonqaba, Kwanokuthula, Lingelethu West, Lwandle, Pinelands, Samora Machel, Struisbaai, Suurbraak and Villiersdorp.

                 (b)   Detention facilities at the following stations are utilised:
