Agriculture
- How will the national government’s interventions, such as the increased national minimum wage that came into effect on 1 March 2023, improve food security, especially for low-income earners, such as farm workers;
- what (a) is the number and (b) is the total amount of conditional grants and (c) other national government interventions did the Western Cape receive for agricultural purposes in (i) 2019, (ii) 2020, (iii) 2021, (vi) 2022 and (v) 2023 to date?
11. (1) The Western Cape Government has prioritized economic growth, jobs, safety, dignity and wellbeing as its priorities. This government supports a decent salary for decent work as a principle for all workers in this Province.
11. 2 (a) There were four conditional grants repeated over each of the five years.
- The total amount for them is set out in the table below.
- There was one other intervention in 2022, i.e., R48.1 million for drought relief by the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs.
