- The Western Cape Provincial Government approved an intervention in Beaufort West Municipality in terms of section 139(5) of the Constitution in August 2021. Following an extensive consultation process, a mandatory Financial Recovery Plan (FRP) was approved on 7 March 2022 and implementation began on 23 March 2022.

- No, but there have been subsequent changes/movement. The tabulations below provide a list of the Municipalities, where there are currently vacancies in the post of Municipal Manager and Directors. Notwithstanding the below mentioned, it should also be noted that there were Municipalities that did appoint or have a Municipal Manager, however, such appointments may have become vacant as a result of inter alia, a termination of the employment, resignation, re-consideration by Council of the appointment.
