(c) Mr A Lester was appointed in terms of Section 12A of the Public Service Act, 1994, as amended which provides that Special Advisers may be appointed to advise the Executive Authority on the exercise or performance of the Executive Authority’s powers and duties, to advise the Executive Authority on the development of policy and to perform such other tasks as may be appropriate in respect of the exercise or performance of the Executive Authority’s powers and duties. A recruitment process is not necessitated when appointing a Special Adviser.

(3) (a) As provided for in the Special Adviser’s Dispensation of 2022, the Minister for the Public Service and Administration approved Compensation Level III for Mr Lester. Mr Lester’s total remuneration amounts to R 1 791 978.00 per annum.
(b) In line with the relevant prescripts, Mr Lester is entitled to a limited cellphone reimbursement, and has been issued the use of a computer and office space.
