With regard to the former J J du Pre le Roux Clinic premises in Paarl:
- Whether there are currently any plans to upgrade the premises; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details;
- given that the premises are reserved by the Department of Social Development for future use, at what stage will his Department consider a lease proposal for its utilisation?
Answer Body:
- There is currently a plan for the refurbishment and upgrade of the premises which forms part of the scheduled maintenance programme and budget for the 2023/24 financial year.
- The premises are reserved by my Department for future use by the Department of Social Development (DSD). Once the refurbishment and upgrade project has been completed, the premises will be utilised by DSD in terms of their service delivery objectives. Due to the fact that the premises are not surplus to the Western Cape Government’s service delivery objectives, my Department is not able to consider a lease proposal for utilisation of the premises by another party.
