Census 2011 has a detailed breakdown of youth unemployment at a municipal level. However, this data is outdated. The most recent data provides a breakdown of youth unemployment at a metro and non-metro level, as reported above. Additional questions about this can be posed to Stats SA who are completing the Census 2022.

The Department has experiential learning programmes that provides a monthly stipend of up to 12 months, on the job training and in most cases an accredited skills programme. Of the beneficiaries that complete the experiential learning programmes, 80% are offered further employment. In the 2023/24 financial year, R99.19 million is allocated towards our skills priority.
