With regard to the amount of R453 237 000 to be spent on subacute, step-down and chronic medical hospitals in 2023/24:
(1)(a) How much of this allocation will be spent on (i) subacute, (ii) step-down and (iii) chronic medical hospitals and (b) what are the details of each;
(2)whether there are any existing facilities in this category scheduled to be expanded or upgraded in 2023/24; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
- The value indicated in Table 9.4 (from where this amount is referenced) is the Operational Budget of facilities rendering specialized rehabilitation services for persons with physical disabilities including the provision of orthotic and prosthetic services.
- One project, namely Pinelands – Orthotic and Prosthetic Centre – Upgrade, is currently active and will be entering the construction stage in 2023/24. The estimated expenditure in 2023/24 is R12,653,000.
