With regard to the solar photovoltaic panels to be installed at 12 hospitals in the 2023/24 financial year:
- Which facilities will receive these panels and (b) what will the cost be of each installation?
Answer Body:
- Over the next 12 months (until March 2024) the Department plans to install solar panels at 15 hospitals:
- Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital
- Paarl Hospital
- Eerste River Hospital
- Beaufort West Hospital
- Brewelskloof Hospital
- Ceres Hospital
- George Hospital
- Harry Comay Hospital
- Khayelitsha Hospital
- Knysna Hospital
- Mitchells Plain Hospital
- Mowbray Maternity Hospital
- Mossel Bay Hospital
- Vredenburg Hospital
- Worcester Hospital
The contractor must deal with price increases and the lack of components availability due to the high demand for the technology, which makes it difficult for a cost per installation. It is anticipated that the rollout will be completed towards the end of the 2023/24 financial year, whereby the estimated cost for the rollout of the programme is approximately R 60 million (incl. VAT).
