Of those applications for learner placement that his Department received by the deadline of 14 April 2023:
(a) How many learners have been placed in schools for (i) Grade 1 and (ii) Grade 8, (b) what are the details of the schools where the learners have been placed, (c) how many learners are not yet placed at schools, (d)(i) what is the number of applications that have been received after the deadline of 14 April 2023 and (ii) how many of those learners have been placed in schools and (e)(i) what is the number of learners between (aa) grades 2 and 7 and (bb) grades 9 and 12 who have requested transfers to other schools and (ii) how many have been transferred?
27. My department has informed me of the following:
(a) This data will only be available later in the year as placement is an ongoing process as parents confirm and decline places.
Parents who have been offered a place must confirm their choice of school by 19 June 2023. After this date, their highest-ranked choice of school will be automatically confirmed.
Schools will only finalise placement lists toward the end of the third term, after which the Department will assist with placement.
(b) We are only in the initial stages of the placement process and parents are still confirming choices.
(c) The placement process has not yet been finalised. It is still in progress.
(d) (i) As of 28 May 2023, 28 033 late applications have been received since 14 April 2023.

(aa) As of 28 May 2023, 3 034 late transfer applications for Grades 2 to 7 have been received since 14 April 2023.
(bb) As of 28 May 2023, 2 275 late transfer applications for Grades 9 to 12 have been received since 14 April 2023.
(ii) The transfer process has not yet been finalised. It is still in progress.
