In respect of the ongoing recruitment process for workers at the Brackengate Intermediate Care Facility:

(a)   (i) What is the update with regard to this process and (ii) when will it be finalised, (b)(i) when were the vacancies advertised and (ii) how many applications were received, (c) what (i) is the number, (ii) are the details, (iii) are the qualifications and (iv) is the experience of those who have been shortlisted, (d) how many of the workers who are currently on contract at the hospital (i) applied for the advertised jobs, (ii) have been shortlisted and (iii) have been or will be interviewed?

Answer Body: 
  1. (i) The recruitment and selection process is currently still under way. The process is being managed by the team at the Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre, as Brackengate will now fall under their management.

(ii) The process for all production level clinical staff (except social auxiliary workers) will be finalised by the end of May. The management and administrative posts will be finalised by the end of June.

  1. (i) The administrative and managerial vacancies were advertised in the internal bulletin on 05/05/2023 and the production level clinical posts were advertised as part of a block advertisement. The block advertisement was displayed at Brackengate from 22 January 2022 to 16 January 2023 to encourage the current contract staff to apply. A memo was then sent on 17 April 2023 for nursing staff to remind them that the applications were open until 28 April 2023.

(ii) A total of 299 applications were received for the various clinical posts.
