With regard to the security tender for the Paarl Hospital:

    1. (a) When does the current contract lapse and (b) what are the details of the new tender for security services at the Paarl Hospital;
    1. within the prescripts of the tender specifications, whether it is the Department’s aim to provide local security services at various facilities, especially rural facilities; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body: 
  1. The existing contract has been extended on a month-to-month basis, up to 31 March 2024. The details of the new tender cannot be disclosed as offers are being evaluated and the matter is therefore sub judice.

The bid calls for service providers to ‘ensure as far as possible to employ security officers within the demographic and community of the facility’, and ‘establish a PSIRA accredited business premises in the Zones they are been awarded within 180 days from the notice of the award’. Both provisions afford prospective service providers to create jobs in local communities while adhering to the regulatory requirements of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act.
