Assessments in the affected areas are underway to determine the verified cost of damages.
- Yes, relief efforts were given to the City of Cape Town, Cape Winelands District Municipality, and West Coast District Municipality. As of 4 July 2023, the West Coast District Municipality’s Disaster Management is still offering humanitarian aid through donations. The 300 households affected in Matzikama have received mattresses, blankets, vanity packs and food parcels.
In addition, the District has coordinated with the Red Cross to provide food parcels to the residents in the Cederberg Municipality affected by the floods.
