In respect of the ongoing taxi violence in parts of the Western Cape, especially in the City of the Cape Town:
- What is the extent of the damage caused by the unrest, (b) what is the number of vehicles that have been attacked and/or torched, (c) how much property damage has been caused and (d) how many people have been injured and/or killed?

The reply of the South African Police Service (SAPS):
5. (a) The extent of the damage cannot be approximated, as this office is not qualified to provide the evaluation of damage effected during the taxi unrest.
(b) Approximately 466 vehicles were damaged during the taxi related unrest.
(c) The extent of the damage cannot be approximated, as this office is not qualified to provide the evaluation of damage effected during the taxi unrest.
The Member to direct the question to the Department of Infrastructure.
(d) 6 people were murdered.
