Within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, PWC has been appointed to undertake an options analysis and business case for the development of a Municipal Pooled-Buying mechanism for the procurement of renewable energy from Independent Power Producers (IPPs) by participating Western Cape municipalities.
what are the details of all the provincial government contracts that PwC is currently undertaking?
I was informed that PwC is currently only doing work within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, as indicated in 1(a) above.

Within the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, the Municipal Pooled Buying Project for Services: R 2,961,165.00 and Disbursements: R186,300.00
(ii) departments for whom PwC currently performs work
As above.
- what is the difference between the role of PwC and that of transaction advisers?
For the Municipal Pooled Buying Project, PWC is providing consulting services as above.
The role of transaction advisors is to assist with the preparation, procurement or implementation components of a municipal IPP procurement project, such as taking a project from pre-feasibility to bankability.
(e) what is the total cost or budget for transaction advisers?
It is envisaged that transaction advisory costs may be required in future anticipated projects as part of the Western Cape’s Energy Resilience Programme, however, no expediture in this regard has occurred to date.
