  1. (a) How many Golden Arrow busses service subcouncil 8, (b) what are the details of their (i) routes, (ii) operating times and (iii) cost per trip and (c)(i) how many operating licences does Golden Arrow have for routes in this area and (ii) how long have these licences existed

(2)  whether there are any plans to open MyCiTi routes in subcouncil 8; if so, what are the relevant details;

  1. (a) what are the details of the applications for routes by Golden Arrow Bus Services, (b) how many applications were approved for the company over the past 10 years and (c) what are the details of the (i) routes, (ii) application dates and (iii) approval dates?
Answer Body: 
  1. (a), (b) (i)(ii)(ii) Golden Arrow Bus Services has informed me that its buses operate different timetables for various days of the week. Please see below the daily trips operated by Golden Arrow Bus Services.

We further attach hereto the operating times, routes and costs per trip for services operating in this area.

(c) (i) GABS has a standard route description on all the operating licenses,

therefore any of the buses may operate the scheduled services in the area with no busses dedicated to only operate from or into Sub Council 8. The current service uses approximately 29 busses with an operating licence on each vehicle.

(ii)The majority of the operating license were issued during the 1970’s

while others (310 operating licenses) were issued in terms of the NLTA and have to be renewed every 5 years.                  

  1. We are advised that there are no plans to introduce MyCiti in Sub Council 8 in the medium term as per the City of Cape Town’s approved Integrated Public Transport Network Plan.
