The Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Social Development invites stakeholders and interested parties to attend public hearings on the Older Persons Amendment Bill [B 11B–2022] (NCOP) that are being organised as part of the Standing Committee’s constitutional responsibility.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Older Persons Amendment Bill is to amend the Older Persons Act, 2006 (Act 13 of 2006), so as to insert new definitions, to insert new provisions relating to the monitoring and evaluation of all services to older persons and for the removal of older persons to a temporary safe care without a court order, to tighten up the existing implementation and compliance measures, to effect some textual amendments for greater clarity and to provide for matters connected therewith.

Interested persons and organisations are encouraged to attend and participate in the public hearings and to submit written input on the Older Persons Amendment Bill [B 11B–2022] to the Standing Committee on Social Development for consideration. Only input on the content of the Amendment Bill will be considered.

SUBMISSIONS

Please submit submissions on the Amendment Bill to Ms Nomonde Jamce, Procedural Officer, at email: njamce@wcpp.gov.za. Written submissions must reach the Standing Committee on Social Development
before or on Wednesday 23 October 2024.
