- (a) Why has there been a lack of response from him to the accusations made by the current acting Municipal Manager of the George Municipality that the appointment process for the Municipal Manager was unfair due to bias against and favouritism towards a specific candidate;
- whether these allegations are being investigated; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
Answer Body:
16.(1)(a) At the time of the compilation of this reply, George Municipality had not yet submitted the appointment process and outcome to my Office as MEC for Local Government as prescribed in terms of the applicable legislation and therefore, the veracity of such allegations is indeterminable.
(2) As indicated, the appointment process and outcome of a Municipal Manager at George Municipality has yet not been submitted to my Office and in the event that there is veracity in any of the allegations, then I may invoke my Statutory powers.
