With regard to the taxi driver who died following an altercation with police:
- When will the investigation into the death of the taxi driver, whose name has been furnished to his Department for the purpose of his reply, be concluded;
- whether the outcome of the investigation will be made available; if not, why not;
- what are the current statistics on deaths of or serious injury to civilians while in police custody or following and altercation with police in the province;
- whether any measures have been implemented to address this; if not, why not; if so, what is (a) the relevant details and (b) being done to address this issue;
- whether the measures are working; if not, why not?

6. This question was directed to the Provincial Commissioner South African Police Service (SAPS) to assist the department with a response. However, it should be noted that the reply to question 6 is still outstanding. The reply will be submitted to parliament as soon as the department receives the response from SAPS.
