Request for presentations on corporate social investment in Western Cape sport

The Western Cape Provincial Parliament’s Standing Committee on Cultural Affairs and Sport invites interested corporates to briefly present their funding mechanisms for sport in the Western Cape. The purpose of the presentations is so that the committee may gain a better understanding of the successes and challenges that corporates face with regard to funding athletes/NGOs/federations/sports clubs. The committee also wishes to understand the processes that athletes NGOs/federations/sports clubs need to follow when applying for corporate funding. This opportunity will afford corporates the opportunity to showcase any work carried out in terms of corporate social investment in sport.

 

The meeting is scheduled for 13 April 2016 and will be held in the Parliamentary Chamber located on the 6th Floor, 7 Wale Street, Cape Town. The session commences at 08:30 and is expected to end at 13:00.

 

Included in the programme will be presentations by officials of the National Lottery Board; Mr Khalid Galant, CEO of South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport; Mr Theodore Yach ,well-known open water swimmer; and officials of South African Breweries. Mr Jacques Verster, a Public Education Practitioner, will present a research journal article pertaining to corporate sponsorship at schools. The Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Hon Anroux Marais, will also be in attendance. 

 

Enquiries: Requests to present, as well as other related enquiries must be referred to Committee Co-ordinator, Mr Waseem Matthews, on Tel 021 487 1741 or Email wmatthews@wcpp.gov.za. The deadline for requests to present is 16:00 on 8 April 2016.

 

Presentations should not exceed 15 minutes and electronic copies should be emailed to Mr Matthews. Kindly forward the electronic versions of the presentations by 11 April 2016 at 09:00. It is advisable to bring your own laptop for purposes of presentation.

 

Access: Please indicate the number of representatives from your company who will be attending the meeting. Guests are required to present their documents at the reception desk. Identity document numbers may be sent ahead of time to upload details to the access system in advance.

 

Parking: There are no parking facilities available at 7 Wale Street. Guests will need to make use of paid for parking in the central business district.
