Petitions Committee visits Citrusdal

The Petitions Committee is to conduct an oversight visit to the demolished Alaska Forever Tavern in Riverview, Citrusdal, on Friday, 28 July.

The Petitions Committee received a petition from the Citrusdal Community Police Forum in March 2015. With the local municipalities’ intervention and due process followed, the tavern structure was eventually demolished in June 2017. Members of the Petitions Committee will also meet with the petitioners, Citrusdal Community Police Forum, and Cederberg Municipality.

“After intervention from the Petitions Committee and serval meetings with the local government, we are very happy with the outcome,” says Hon Ricardo Mackenzie, Chairperson of the Petitions Committee.
