Women's Parliament 2019

The Western Cape Women’s Parliament (WCWP) will take place on Thursday, 21 November. The event will be attended by women Members of the Provincial Parliament, Members of the NCOP and approximately 58 delegates representing women’s organisations from across the province, including the Cape Metro, Central Karoo, Cape Winelands, Garden Route, Overberg and West Coast.

Two central themes will be discussed by delegates: gender-based violence and challenges facing women in rural areas. Following the sessions, the delegates will draft resolutions that will be tabled in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament for referral and further attention. The aim of the event is to ensure that there are tangible outcomes aimed at improving the lives of the people of the Western Cape.

The event will start at 08:30 in the Chamber, 6th Floor, Western Cape Provincial Parliament, 7 Wale Street, Cape Town and will be presided over by Speaker Masizole Mnqasela.
