Community Safety
Whether there are any security measures in place to safeguard police officers and administrative officers stationed in precincts while on duty; if not, why not; if so, what are the relevant details?
The South African Police Services have a number of measures in place to safeguard members and administrative personnel of the Service. These measures include the Police Safety Plan dated 2019/07/31 and SAPS Security Policy 2019 both with the aim to intensify and accelerate integrated efforts to address attacks and unnatural deaths of all SAPS employees. The SAPS also recently issued National Instruction 7/2019 Access Control, which ensures that the SAPS has security measures in place to protect its premises, installations and assets to minimise opportunities for theft and damage to its property or harm to its personnel.
